NOn-Cooperation Movement

India’s struggle for independence began when they refused to get overpowered by the Britishers and planned to work together towards an independent India. But, the process wasn’t easy. There were hurdles all through the way. Many movements were launched with an effort to throw British powers outside India, but most of them failed in fulfilling the purpose they were started for. But, they strengthened India’s will towards freedom and finally paved the path towards an independent India. The non-cooperation movement, popularly known as the civil disobedience movement, was launched on 1 August 1920 by Mahatma Gandhi. The non-cooperation movement was the first mass movement organized as a part of India’s freedom struggle.

Save Environment and Save Earth.

The environment is an ultimate important treasure we own. And we human beings have ended up treating it recklessly. According to the World Health Organization, 9 out of 10 people worldwide are exposed to levels of air pollutants that exceed safe levels. We all are well aware of the impact of air pollution on our health, but we give a blind eye to the coming trouble. Remember the days, especially around Diwali, when the Air index increases to ~500 – we suffocate and carve for a single breath of fresh air. We need to understand if the quality of air will keep on decreasing the way it has been decreasing, fresh air will become a luxury which will not be available to more than 90% of the living and coming generations. To create awareness about our environment, every year on 5th June, The World Environment Day is celebrated and this year’s theme is “Beat Air Pollution”. We, humans, have lasted a devastating impact on the world’s air, which has started taking its toll on us. Now that media...

Salt March

Also known as the Dandi Movement, Gandhi's Salt March is considered to be a pivotal incident in the history of freedom struggle. At the Calcutta Congress of 1928, Gandhi declared that the British must grant India dominion status or the country will erupt into a revolution for complete independence. The British did not pay heed to this. As a result, on December 31, 1929, the Indian flag was unfurled in Lahore and the next January 26 was celebrated as the Indian Independence Day. Then, Gandhi started a Satyagraha campaign against the salt tax in March 1930. He marched 388 kilometres from Ahmedabad to Dandi in Gujarat to make salt. Thousands of people joined him and made it one of the biggest marches in Indian history.

Khilafat Movement

The main objective of the Khilafat movement was to force the British government change its attitude towards Turkey and restore the Khalifa to his former position. Turkey was defeated in the First World War and the harsh terms of the Treaty of Sevres (1920) was felt by the Muslims as a great insult to them. The Muslims in India were upset over the British attitude against Turkey and launched the Khilafat Movement which was jointly led by the Khilafat leaders and the Congress. Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, M.A. Ansari, Saifuddin Kitchlew and the Ali brothers were the prominent leaders of this movement. In November 1919, a joint conference of the Hindus and the Muslims held under the chairmanship of Mahatma Gandhi. Mahatma Gandhi was particularly interested in bringing the Hindus and the Muslims together to achieve the country’s independence. In February 1920, Gandhiji suggested to Khilafat Committee that it adopt a programme of nonviolent non-cooperation to protest the Government’s behavior. ...

Kheda Satyagraha

1918 was a year of failed crops in the Kheda district of Gujarat due to droughts. As per law, the farmers were entitled to remission if the produce was less than a quarter of the normal output. But the government refused any remission from paying land revenue. Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, under Gandhi’s guidance, led the farmers in protest against the collection of taxes in the wake of the famine. People from all castes and ethnicities of the district lend their support to the movement. The protest was peaceful and people showed remarkable courage even in the face of adversities like confiscation of personal property and arrest. Finally, the authorities gave in and gave some concessions to the farmers.

How many Calories in Apple?

When it comes to the best fruits for you, apples seem to be the gold standard. I mean you've heard it before—an apple a day…yeah yeah, you know the rest. But how many calories, exactly, are in an apple—and is that staple your mom packed in your school lunch really that great for you? Well, it turns apples really do live up to the hype. Can you hear your mom saying, "I told you so?" When it comes to healthy snacks, it doesn’t get much better than apples. They’re loaded with vitamins, have a pretty long shelf life compared to other produce, and are super easy to pop into your bag on the go. “Apples are the second most consumed fruit, behind bananas, for a reason," says Alex Caspero, registered dietitian and author at Delish Knowledge. "They are generally inexpensive, portable, healthy, and delicious.” Plus, since apples come in a ton of different varieties—way beyond the Red Delicious and Granny Smith kinds you ate as a kid—you'll probably find something you...

What is Thermal power plant?

A thermal power station is a type of power station in which heat energy is converted to electrical energy. In a steam-generating cycle heat is used to boil water in a large pressure vessel to produce high-pressure steam, which drives a steam turbine connected to an electrical generator. The low-pressure exhaust from the turbine enters a steam condenser where it is cooled to produce hot condensate which is recycled to the heating process to generate more high pressure steam. This is known as a Rankine cycle. Natural gas or oil fuel can also be burnt directly in a gas turbine connected to an electrical generator, and to improve efficiency the hot exhaust gases are then used to boil water and produce more steam for use in a steam generating cycle. This is known as combined cycle gas turbine plant. The design of thermal power stations depends on the intended energy source: fossil fuel, nuclear and geothermal power, solar energy, biofuels, and waste incineration are all used. Certain ther...

Kathak Dance

Kathak is one of the main genres of ancient Indian classical dance and is traditionally regarded to have originated from the travelling bards of North India referred as Kathakars or storytellers. These Kathakars wandered around and communicated legendary stories via music, dance and songs quite like the early Greek theatre. The genre developed during the Bhakti movement, the trend of theistic devotion which evolved in medieval Hinduism. The Kathakars communicate stories through rhythmic foot movements, hand gestures, facial expressions and eye work. This performing art that incorporates legends from ancient mythology and great Indian epics, especially from the life of Lord Krishna became quite popular in the courts of North Indian kingdoms. Three specific forms of this genre that is three gharanas (schools), which mostly differ in emphasis given to footwork versus acting, are more famous namely, the Jaipur gharana, the Benaras gharana and the Lucknow gharana.

According to this theory, space and time emerged together 13.787±0.020 billion years ago,[11] and the universe has been expanding ever since. While the spatial size of the entire universe is unknown,[3] it is possible to measure the size of the observable universe, which is approximately 93 billion light-years in diameter at the present day. Avoid plastic

1. Say no to plastic straws, even in restaurants. If you must use a straw, purchase a reusable stainless steel or glass straw. 2. Use a reusable produce bag. A single plastic bag can take 1,000 years to degrade. Purchase reusable produce bags (just be sure to wash them often). 3. Stop chewing gum. Gum is made of a synthetic rubber, aka plastic. 4. Buy common products in boxes instead of plastic bottles. Products like laundry detergent come in a cardboard box, which is more easily recycled than plastic. Save water

Water efficiency is reducing water wastage by measuring the amount of water required for a particular purpose and the amount of water used or delivered.[1] Water efficiency differs from water conservation in that it focuses on reducing waste, not restricting use.[2] Solutions for water efficiency focus not only on reducing the amount of potable water used, but also on reducing the use of non-potable water where appropriate (i.e. flushing toilet, watering landscape, etc.).[3] It also emphasises the influence consumers can have in water efficiency by making small behavioural changes to reduce water wastage and by choosing more water efficient products. The Capitol Power Plant made dramatic performance improvements in the generation and delivery of chilled water and steam throughout our facilities. By revitalizing the refrigeration plant and installing new chillers, the CPP increased chilled water efficiency with new chillers that are 20 percent more efficient. These chillers aren't...

CNG and Nano Carbon

1. The natural gas (CNG)-run buses are harmful for humans as they emit 'nano carbon' particles which can cause cancer, according to a study conducted by council of scientific and industrial research (CSIR). 2.Through the study was conducted on a very limited sample size in Delhi,CSIR took the findings seriously owing to the health hazard,it poses to humans and alerted the central government for further follow up,CSIR's Director General Dr MO Garg said. 3. According to him,the study can change the perception that natural gas is a clean fuel as it does not emit any visible smoke, which is in contrast to smoke emitted by diesel-run vehicles and perceived as harmful for humans. 4. "Natural gas is supposed to be a clean fuel when used in internal combustion engines, right? But,I don't think people realise that what you see (smoke) is perhaps better than what you don't see (no smoke from CNG vehicles)," said Garg during his address at the Global Green Energy Conc...
